OUR TEAM
Pooches in Pines Inc., is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation which functions alongside the Pembroke Pines Police Department's (PPPD) Animal Assistance Program (AAP). We are comprised of sworn and non-sworn personnel who are dedicated to the primary goal of reuniting dogs found within the City of Pembroke Pines with their owner(s).
Contact is made with these dogs through police calls for service handled by PPPD officers. In the event a found dog is unable to be reunited with its owner, Pooches in Pines, Inc. works with rescue groups and volunteers to achieve our secondary goal of re-homing the dogs in our care. Pooches in Pines Inc. provides care and shelter for the dogs in kennel facilities at the east district police station.
We are limited in the amount of dogs we can care for at one time. Pooches in Pines Inc. seeks to find temporary foster homes for dogs in our care while we search for the owners or carry out the re-homing process.
Pooches in Pines Inc. is 100% operated by volunteers, some of which are full-time employees at the Pembroke Pines Police Department. All expenses necessary to care for the animals, including veterinary care, are solely dependent on donations. Prior to going to a new home, all dogs are seen by a veterinarian where they are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and undergo any surgery/procedure deemed necessary.
